Kim Sae-ron’s Fame from “The Man from Nowhere” Led to Bullying & Mental Breakdown

In 2018, Kim Sae-ron appeared on the JTBC variety show “Knowing Bros”, where she shared stories about her school years, with her close friend, AKMU’s Lee Su-hyun.

During this episode, Kim Sae-ron confessed that she had been bullied in elementary school. Kim Sae-ron shared that she attended school until her first year of high school before dropping out to pursue other interests, while maintaining relationships with her high school friends.
Kim Sae-ron dropped out of high school in 2016 to pursue homeschooling, explaining that she wanted to explore subjects like languages instead of focusing solely on acting. She had planned to study Theater and Film, which would require 6-7 years of acting training, but preferred to broaden her education during high school.

She continued, “After the movie ‘The Man from Nowhere’ became so popular, I transferred to a new school. I think the new classmates recognized me as a celebrity, and they bullied me severely.”
At that time, Kim Sae-ron had to endure incidents like profanities written on the slide at the playground near her school and the frequent disappearance of her shoes from the school’s shoe locker. “I was once invited to a birthday party, but when I arrived, no one was there,” she revealed.
When asked if she had ever regretted her acting career, Kim Sae-ron responded, “At first, it was really hard, but I really loved acting. The thrill of seeing my name in the credits when the movie was released in theaters was immense.”

This story has gone viral again after it was reported that Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home on February 16. Recently, it was also revealed that she had changed her name to Kim Ah-im and was in the process of opening a cafe and making a comeback to the entertainment industry. However, an unfortunate tragedy has occurred to the young actress.
